MJ Bear, poet and author, lives in the foothills of the beautiful Rockies in Alberta, Canada. To MJ, this wilderness is a stimulating source of inspiration for poetry. Nature is visual . . . it's raw. It's real-time poetic verse about shadow and light, transformation and growth, hardship and resilience.

 

Ashes of Innocence: A Poetic Journey Through Shadow & Light is a memoir poetry collection and marks MJ's debut book, primarily focused on learning from personal experiences, mistakes and redemption, relationships and challenges—and working one's way through them. ​For MJ, this is "living poetry" or everyday poetry. As such, he often writes poetry about growing up and incorporates poems about nature to understand the dynamics of daily life.

MJ enjoys a variety of hobbies, including watching documentaries, listening to music, reading, traveling, contemplating philosophy, and baking (followed by indulging in his treats). He loves engaging in deep conversations and entertaining his three kitties, though he often finds himself spending too much time watching YouTube videos when he's not working as a freelance graphic designer.
